Formula for an outstanding art piece :
Personal Involvement + Creativity + Technique
"There was an art piece drawing a blueprint of future
city landscape. You could feel the entrant's unique presentation.
At the prize presentation ceremony, I realized he was
the youngest amongst the entrants." (The entrant's
name is Lam Cheuk-wang, participating in 1999 art competition
when he was 12 years old)"For sculpture category,
I recall an art piece forming a line of round shaped ceramics.
Again, its presentation differed from ordinary ceramic
art piece and that's why it drew my attention." (The
entrant's name is Wan Lai-kuen, winner of sculpture section
in 1999. The title of the art piece was "One Centre".)
On this year's art pieces, Mr. Kan is fond of "Praia
Grande" and "Left! Right! Left! Right!"
the winner and the first runner up of the painting category
and also "Kin of Next Era" in the sculpture
category. In particular, he appreciates "Kin of Next
Era" for its engraving skills and personal emotion.
Also, the posture of bending knees is the most favourite
gesture amongst Chinese.
All in all, Mr. Kan comments that it is not very important
to comply with the theme of the competition. A good art
piece should convey the artist's personal involvement
creativity and his techniques on art. If Mr Kan were one
of the entrants for this year competition, |
