Macau has rich cultural environment bringing more potential artists

This year, the competition has extended to Macau. Coincidently, the winners of both sections come from Macau. Mr. Kan is not surprised with the result. Though both Hong Kong and Macau were once under colonial rule, the cultural environment is totally different.
Affected by the English, Hong Kong's cultural environment tends to be more rational, without emphasis on art and culture. Hong Kong people are more pragmatic and materialistic; their pace of life is fast. Whilst, the Portuguese culture has affected Macau, they tend to be more emotional and passionate, and their lifestyle is more relax. Prior to returning to China, the Portuguese government emphasized the development in cultural, travel and
entertainment aspects. Potential artists have always been there, they need more cultural exchange opportunity.
